Fight against prostate cancer:
Greg Messier Open raises $22,000

A total of $22,000 was raised for PROCURE to fight prostate cancer during the 7th annual Greg Messier Open, held at the International 2000 Golf Club in Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle on September 7, 2019.

 

In total, 230 people attended the dinner, auction, and dance.

 

During the day, members of the organizing committee and 12 volunteers hosted booths and games along the three golf courses, adding $4,000 to the fundraising total.

 

In the evening, guests also took part in a live auction led by Denis Paquette. Among the items sold was a hockey stick belonging to Sidney Crosby, who plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins, which fetched $1,400.

 

Background

Over the past seven years, the Greg Messier Open has raised a total of $116,500, including $42,000 from the last two editions alone.

 

PROCURE notes that 12 men in Quebec are diagnosed with prostate cancer every day.
