Michel Messier & Anne LeMoyne
Commémorative Plaque
Basilique Sainte-Anne-de-Varennes

As part of the 25th anniversary celebrations of foundation of the Messier Families Association, the board of directors decided to honor the memory of one of our ancestors, Michel Messier and his wife, Anne LeMoyne, who made their brand in Varennes and who died in this city.
An agreement reached in 1718, between Michel, the priest of Varennes and three churchwardens, stipulated that following a donation of 1000 pounds, for the construction of a chapel, their bodies would be buried under the church.
On October 9, 2014, the plaque was installed in the Basilica of Ste-Anne-de-Varennes, clearly visible at the rear exit of the church, to the left of the crucifix, by the basilica worker, helped by Réal Messier, representative of the Association.
