Annual General Meeting
Association des Familles Messier
Sunday, August 13, 2017
On August 13, 2017, we held our annual general meeting at the Mikes Restaurant in Varennes. Organized by our secretary-treasurer, Réjean Messier, the day began with a brunch attended by 20 people. Afterward, other members joined the group for the annual general meeting, which proceeded efficiently while adhering to the agreed-upon agenda.
During the meeting, Richard Leonardo presented a report on his fourth year as president. His report follows this summary. The annual meeting provided an opportunity to elect directors for the 2017–2018 term. Three directors had terms expiring but remained eligible for re-election: Jean-Claude Messier (4), Réjean Messier (12), and Carole Messier (357). The general assembly elected the following members to two-year terms: Réjean Messier (12) and Lise Ferron (384). They will join Richard Leonardo (283), David Messier (347), and Nycole Messier (409), whose terms expire next year. The members present expressed their satisfaction with the work accomplished in 2016–2017 by ratifying the actions taken by the directors.
Afterward, Steven Caron guided us through the streets of Varennes, showing us houses that bear witness to the presence of various Messier descendants over the years. Once again, it was a full and rewarding day!
In the weeks that followed, the directors met to appoint the Association’s executive committee. On the « Board of Directors: 1990 to Present » page, you will find the names and positions held by each member.
