Annual General Meeting
Association des Familles Messier

Sunday, August 12, 2018

On August 12, 2018, we held our annual general meeting at the Mikes Restaurant in Varennes. Organized by our secretary-treasurer, Réjean Messier, the day began with a brunch attended by about twenty people. Afterward, other members joined the group for the annual general meeting, which proceeded efficiently while adhering to the agreed-upon agenda.

During the meeting, Richard Leonardo presented the report on his fourth year as president. This report is available for viewing via the link at the bottom of this page. The annual meeting also provided the opportunity to elect directors for the 2018–2019 term. Three directors—Richard Leonardo (283), David Messier (347), and Nycole Messier (409)—had terms expiring but remained eligible for re-election; the general assembly re-elected them for a two-year term. They will serve alongside Réjean Messier (12) and Lise Ferron (384), whose terms expire next year. The members present expressed their satisfaction with the work accomplished in 2017–2018 by ratifying the actions taken by the directors.

Following the meeting, we had the pleasure of attending a fascinating presentation by Anne Roussell. She had worked diligently to present the preliminary itinerary for the « Journey to the Land of Our Ancestors »—a trip we plan to undertake in 2019—on that very day. Additional information about the trip can be found in the « Other Activities » section of the « Events » page on our website.

In the weeks that followed, the directors met to appoint the Association’s executive committee. By clicking on the « Board of Directors 1990–20… » section under « The Association » in the menu, you will find the various roles held by each member.
